General Information

The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office will fingerprint Johnston County Residents Only and you MUST have a valid North Carolina ID Card or North Carolina Operators License with your current name and address.

(Out-of-State licenses will not be accepted unless you are a current member of the military with a valid military ID.)

The Sheriff and his staff are required to follow strict federal guidelines when performing necessary procedures for fingerprinting. During the application process, you will be asked to schedule an appointment.

Please note that you will be asked to pay now to reserve your appointment. This page is ONLY for fingerprint appointments for employment, licensing, foster care and adoption, etc.

**DO NOT schedule a fingerprint appointment if you are applying for a Concealed Carry Permit. Return to the home page and click on the tab under Concealed Carry Handgun Permits. The fingerprint appointment on this page will NOT satisfy the requirements of a Concealed Handgun Permit application**

  • Fingerprinting costs $15.00 for two (2) fingerprint cards (plus an online convenience fee)
  • Appointments for fingerprinting will be processed between 8:30am-4:00pm Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Fingerprinting Requirements: must meet ALL requirements

Applicant must meet ALL requirements

Valid North Carolina ID or Driver’s License with current name and address.

If you are obtaining fingerprints that require electronic submission to the SBI, please make sure you receive the Electronic Submission form from the agency that is requesting that you be fingerprinted. If you do not have these forms at your appointment we cannot fingerprint you.

The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office offers this online service as a convenience to the community. In addition to the fingerprint fee of $15.00, the system will charge a per transaction fee for the convenience of applying and paying for your fingerprints online. The convenience fee is not collected by the Sheriff. This fee is paid to the company that provides this order, payment and processing system to the public. 

Click the Let's Get Started button to begin your fingerprint application. You will be asked for information that will need to be included on the fingerprint card. The cost to get fingerprinted is $15.00 and you can pay that online as part of this process. You will also be able to choose an appointment with the Sheriff's Office for your fingerprinting session.

 

Attention: Our office does not submit fingerprints electronically for other states. The only options for fingerprinting at Johnston County Sheriff's Office is 1) Hard Copy Cards FD-258 or 2) Electronic Submission for NC licenses (You must provide an Electronic Submission Form for this).
